Director of Programs Position Description

Job summary

The Director of Programs at Boulder Crest Retreat Arizona is responsible to the executive director for the overall management of all retreat programming including service delivery, planning, and execution, customer care, and personnel management while ensuring compliance with board directives and applicable federal and state requirements.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Oversee all therapeutic programs at BCR Arizona.

  • Work with Director of Programs for BCR Virginia to ensure standardization across organization.

  • Oversee interviews of personnel attending all BCR programs.

  • Ensure data collection - pre and post retreat and 1, 3, 6, 12 and, 18 month follow ups.

  • Ensure participant information is added to the database.

  • Develop community relationships needed to deliver world-class programming at BCR Arizona.

  • Lead and manage 4 direct reports.

  • Carry out all of the above activity in a timely fashion to ensure BCRF or other favorable outcome for BCRF.

Minimum requirements

The Director of Programs will have an education and professional background commensurate with this important leadership position. The Director of Programs will typically be degreed at the Bachelors level or equivalent. A leader in this position will also have 10- 15 years (plus) experience leading nonprofit programs, dealing with veteran issues and an understanding of hospitality management.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Director of Programs is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use so the employee must have sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Travel

The Director of Programs must be able to travel to attend conferences, training, and other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position

Work Environment

The work environment is a small, busy office located on a working ranch in Sonoita, Arizona. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations in the work environment may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Capabilities / qualities required

  • The Director of Programs will be a subject matter expert in therapeutic programs for veterans and their family members dealing with combat related stress.

  • Decisive leader with the ability to make informed decisions quickly with the supervision and oversight of the executive director.

  • The Director of Programs will be a seasoned manager that is expert at delivering quality service and products to customers on time and within budget.

  • The Director of Programs is a problem solver versus problem identifier. This leader will attack problems with vigor and tenacity using appropriate techniques.

  • Good Communicator in both written and oral forms. Must possess the ability to communicate (in the English language) effectively with customers, vendors, leadership, other nonprofit leaders, and all support staff.

  • Great people skills. Skilled at performance management, conflict resolution, recruiting and retention. This leader is a mentor who willingly teaches those under his / her supervision.

  • Team builder and team player. This leader works well with other members of the leadership team, division and corporate staff functions.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
