PATHH Guide Position Description

Job Summary

The PATHH Guides of Boulder Crest Retreat Arizona are responsible to the Program Director for the planning, preparation, and coordination of PATHH programs to include recreation and equine-based programs for guests of the Retreat. Through hands on interaction with guests using outdoor recreational and equine activities, PATHH Guides help guests improve mental, emotional, and physical well being; reduce depression, stress, and anxiety; build confidence; reinforce effective social skills; boost creativity and have fun.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Collaborates with the Guest Relations Specialist to understand guest needs, capabilities, limitations, and schedule appropriate recreational opportunities for Retreat guests.

  • Exhibits leadership and instruction skills and effectively communicates these skills and techniques to participants and staff members.

  • Responsible for safe transport of Retreat guests to and from on and offsite recreation activity locations.

  • Educates participants on safety precautions specific to each activity

  • Maintains accurate records of participant involvement and evaluates the effectiveness of recreational programs. Solicits participant input to gauge reaction to program quality and uses evaluation results to plan new programs that are convenient to guests to promote high levels of attendance and facility use.

  • Collaborates with Program Director and visiting program directors to facilitate opportunities for structured group recreation.

  • Manages outreach, collaboration and scheduling of recreation volunteers. Supervises outside instructors and volunteers as needed.

  • Maintains equine and recreational equipment and storage facilities used in conjunction with recreational and leisure programs. Performs clean-up and tear-down associated with activities. Orders supplies and materials for the activities and handles receipts for recreation according to proper management procedures.

  • Ensures proper care and feeding of horses.

  • Support both programmatic and operational teams with administrative tasks as need arises

  • Assists Retreat Caretakers with general Retreat maintenance as schedule allows and need arises.

Minimum requirements

PATHH Guides will have an education and professional background commensurate with this important position. PATHH Guides will typically have a military/combat experience, a high school or equivalent diploma and 5-10 years (plus) experience using recreation as a means of healing for the veteran community. The job requires a strong background in outdoor activities, such as equine, archery, kayaking, climbing, fishing, and hiking. PATHH Guides should also be patient, detail-oriented, and physically fit. Temporary employment occurs as PATHH Guides will complete a Warrior PATHH program prior to final acceptance.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, PATHH Guides are regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position also requires spending a lot of time outdoors. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Travel

PATHH Guides must be able to travel to get back and forth to work and run errands in and around Sonoita, Arizona (within 100 miles). A driver's license and a good driving record are required to use the company vehicle.

Work Environment

The work environment is a small, busy ranch facility located in Sonoita, Arizona. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations in the work environment may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
